This was not my first time to Singapore but I definitely loved it a lot more than I can remember from my previous trip (even though I fractured my foot this time around!!! Not good timing as this was the stopover to our Maldives trip!!!)
We stayed at the very grand Marina Bay Sands Hotel – located (obviously) in the Marina Bay region of Singapore. It is only around a 15-minute taxi ride from the airport so very convenient if you have a flight arriving late at night! Upon check in we were greeted by service staff that escorted us to a private check in room and even upgraded us to a higher-level harbour view room.
The sky pool is located on Level 59 of the hotel and is what makes this hotel really special, along with the casino located in the lower levels of the hotel and the huge shopping mall on the basement levels of the hotel.
The main hub of Singapore i.e. orchard road is only around a 10 minute cab ride from the hotel. Great places to shop and eat include ICON ( a great shopping centre with a great food hall on the basement levels – I had my favourite dessert I have ever had here!!! (it’s a coconut caramel icy sago drink– photo below )
Unfortunately we couldn’t do too many things outside of the hotel as I fractured my foot the first morning we were there, however it didn’t really matter as we had the skypool just an elevator ride away.
One restaurant I highly recommend even if you are not staying at the hotel itself is Ku De Ta – it is a little pricy however the food is great and so is the atmosphere. It is on the same level as the sky pool and has brilliant views of Singapore at night-time. Other restaurants in the shopping mall are also great we had the best sushi bento box!
